This contest marked the first Poetry Idol to be held outside of the inner suburbs there was full quota of poets and a large audience in attendance. Thanks to Michael and Libby for picking me up from home or I wouldn't have been able to make it down to take photos as it was on the other side of Frankston.

Poetry Idol was one of the events for the Peninsula Festival of Arts & Ideas and it turned out to be a great success on the day and hopefully they can have it back next year for the festival.

In a good sign that the event has managed to engage the local creative community, quite a few of the poets had their first public reading at the event, with one of them winning the judges' prize. The audience prize is already producing some interesting winners and by the final there should be a wide variety of poets in the final.

The next Poetry Idol is next week at the Diamond Valley Library in Greensborough. I don't know if I will be able to make it due to the busy weekend I had this week, but I am sure it will go well.
