Dial A Dero

Director: Dick Dale

Tagline: One dial-a service I wish existed

It is really sneaky of a festival director to not only sneak their own work onto a screening program, but also have it be one of the best films on the bill. I am going to make an exception in this case as this short was really great.

It is another fake advertisement touting the wondrous service of ‘dial a dero’ a service that rents out deros to deal with life’s problems and to get rid off annoying people. I also liked that they had other uses for them such as garden gnomes and guard dogs (squatters are often used for this purpose in abandoned buildings.)

People who work with homeless people and the disadvantaged are advised to stay away as they would be offended, but I think most people would enjoy this short and also be relived that it hasn’t happened to them.

Hopefully this short becomes available on DVD or for download as I think it deserves a wider audience.
