Kyü CD Launch

with Parking Lot Experiments, Oscar and Martin
Workers Club, Saturday 30th October 2010

I had been looking forward to Kyü's CD launch for ages as I enjoyed seeing them the last few times and even went to see Xiu Xiu when they played in Melbourne as I knew they would be supporting. Luckily the CD arrived before the show as I was getting worried for a while as I have had one arrive the same night as a launch before and I didn't get to listen to it.

The Parking Lot Experiments were a nice surprise. They are named after Wayne Coyne's famous musical experiment in a parking garage during the 90s. I would say they are like a more ramshackle version of the Flaming Lips, but it suits them and it didn't even matter that the stand for their keyboard collapsed twice during their set as it suited them.

Oscar and Martin (formerly Psuche) were a bit more subdued, but they did warm up towards the end when everyone stood up and started dancing.

It was good to see the girls from Kyü again, but it was kind of ruined for me with that annoying drunk woman who kept pushing me during their entire set, would not shut up and tried to jump on stage at the end. I don't like being hassled when I go out and kind of wrecked the night for me. Will hopefully be a better audience next time.
