Melissa Delaney and Lynne Ellis with Christos Tsiolkas at the 2009 Poetry Idol Final
Melissa Delaney works in broad based arts practice and arts management. She is currently the Arts Coordinator with RMIT Union [Arts], has worked as Artistic Director with Express Media, been Director of Booranga Writers' Centre, was the Regional Arts Development Officer with the Eastern Riverina Arts Program for three years, has worked with OPENChannel and the VCA, was Director of Electrofringe and their Residency Program in 2008, an artist and Committee Member with the Wagga Space Program (2004 - 2007), and works on her own creative projects including the 'notes from the underground' experimental screening program at Federation Square in addition to currently undertaking post graduate studies.
LYNNE ELLIS was trained at Dartington Hall England in the 70’s as a performer and experienced the exciting Art’s explosion and met the innovators that changed theatrical expectations forever. She has had a prolific directing career in Melbourne since arriving over 20 years ago, as a performance member of KISS, International Theatre Research Company.
Her empathy for new writers and her love of words has seen her innovative directorial style in over 50 productions at LA MAMA, with writers such as Sam Sejavka, Raimondo Cortese, Anthony Ley and the wonderful Barry Dickens . She has been Artistic Director for RMIT Union Theatre for an equivalent amount of time. It is here Lynne discovered her passion for the student fraternity. In this environment she has adapted and directed many forms of multi media and cross art theatre, including those of Roald Dahl and Andy Griffiths for her infamous Kid’s Shows She is a recipient of the 1992 Ewa Cjazor Award for female directors.
