After a very busy year last year with the Poetry Idol final at the Melbourne Writers Festival and the competitions that I attended in October and December, it was good to see the Paradise Anthology magazine finally launch and have the poets perform their work.

Brian Nankervis as MC was great and even had another person from the audience take photos from on top of a chair before the proceedings commenced.

Special guests for the night included Erica Grundell from Naked Raven, Rebecca Barnard who last appeared at the Poetry Idol finals and Soul Tram with Trish Anderson who helped Michael with his book launch at the writers festival so it was good to see them again. Michael Crane also performed some of his work and sang with Soul Tram.

Some of the poets from the anthology got to do a guest reading, which was great to see and some even used the night as an opportunity to try out new work, which was even better.

It was a great night and hopefully I will get the opportunity to cover all the heats leading up to the final at the Age Melbourne Writers Festival this year.
