Q&A (2009)

Director: Mike Rauch, Tim Rauch

Tagline: Kids ask the darndest things

At a story-sharing workshop Joshua, 12 year old boy with Asperger's syndrome interviews his mother Sarah making up his own questions from animals to hard questions about their mother-son relationship. It is a very honest story and also very sweet and makes a good topic for the short.

The animation style is simple, with stylised characters and backgrounds, but it suits the short very well. Having seen a photo of the mother and son featured in the short, I thought the animators captured them very well.

This short was one of the audience favourites at the screening and hopefully it goes on to do well at other festivals and gets a wider run elsewhere.

Rating: 8/10
